ALBERT CHEDZOY

ALBERT CHEDZOY 1859 - Ancestor of Olaf Chedzoy

Albert was the 2nd child of Emmanuel Chedzoy and Sarah Way. He was born 18th October 1859 and was baptised at Stoke St Gregory church on 13th November 1859. Albert married Sarah Dorcus Barrington on 19th April 1888. They lived at Windmill Lane and later moved to Lane End House, which had about 11 acres of land, he also had fields in West Sedgemoor and Currymoor, which were used to grow Willows. Albert and Sarah had 8 children. Sidney Charles was baptised 30th June 1889, Florence Annie was baptised 20th September 1890.

The 1891 census shows the family living at Windmill Road. Albert Chedzoy, head, aged 31, withy grower. Sarah, wife, aged 29. Sidney, son, aged 1. Florence, daughter, aged 7 months.

The following year Albert George was baptised 20th July 1892, Ernest James was baptised 25th June 1893, Henry Frederick was baptised 22nd September 1895, Edith Mary was baptised 3rd April 1898, Frank Barrington was baptised 3rd April 1899, and Herbert Edward was baptised 21st December 1902.

Sarah Dorcus died in 1937 from Cancer.

FRANK BARRINGTON CHEDZOY 1899 - 1987

Frank Barrington was the 7th child of Albert Chedzoy and Sarah Dorcus Barrington, he was baptised 3rd April 1899, and he was the only child to have the Barrington name. Frank served in the first world war, and suffered from a Mustard Gas attack, this meant that he was limited in his employment. He married Johanne Johansen from Norway. Johanne was a school teacher.

They had 2 children Norma Johanne was born 1st October 1926 and baptised 31st October 1928 and Olaf Barrington who was born 31st July 1929 and baptised 8th September 1929. Frank had been left some land by his Barrington relatives, so he built a bungalow, which stood in a large garden with 2 fields, which were used for various agriculture, and provided the family with an income. Johanne was very keen that her children should be well educated, and both children went to University, the first Chedzoy's in Albert's line to do so.

Johanne died in 1972 and Frank Barrington died in 1987.
