THOMAS ALDRED 1776 -

Thomas married Jane Chuter on 16th February 1795 at Frensham. I believe they had 10 children, Their first child was born at Frensham and was baptised during March 1796 (the name is illegible in the parish register). They moved to Headley where Thomas was baptised on 19th August 1797 (their name was written as Alder in the parish register), and Sarah baptised 29th April 1799. The family moved back to Frensham where their other children were born, James was baptised 14th December 1800, Maria was baptised 25th September 1803, George was baptised 13th July 1806, Charles was baptised on 31st March 1809, Henry baptised 9th June 1811, Eliza baptised 31st July 1814, who married James Arundell on Christmas day 1832. Louisa was baptised 2nd February 1817, she married John Tillman 3rd August 1840.

Thomas and Jane appear on the 1841 census for Dockenfield, Thomas aged 65 and Jane aged 60. Thomas worked as an agricultural labourer.

THOMAS ALDRED 1797 - 1855

Thomas was born in 1797, he was baptised at Headley in Hampshire, on 19th August 1797 the son of Thomas Aldred and Jane Chuter. The parish register gives their name as Alder. Thomas Aldred married Harriet Remnant by banns at Frensham parish church on 13th May 1818 both signed their own names, the witnesses were George Remnant and Elizabeth Redford. Thomas and Harriet lived at Bats Corner, Frensham and raised their family of 10 children. Mary was baptised on 6th February 1819, Stephen baptised 17th December 1820.George was baptised 6th January 1822, but sadly died 30th November 1822. James was baptised 14th December 1823, Charles was baptised 17th December 1826, George was baptised 5th April 1829, Thomas was baptised 5th March 1831, Frederick was baptised 23rd February 1834, William was baptised 25th December 1836, Arthur was born 1839/40.

The 1841 census shows the family living at Bats Corner, Thomas Aldred an Agricultural Labourer and Harriet both age 40, James 15, Charles 14, George 12, Thomas 10, Frederick 7, and Arthur 1. Mary their eldest daughter left home to become a Servant, she married James Bonner in 1847. Mary died 3 years later in the summer of 1850, leaving two children. Thomas and Harriet took the eldest grandson Frederick James to look after, and their son James took the baby William Charles to look after.

The 1851 census shows Thomas and Harriet, with only three sons still at home, the youngest Arthur still at school, they have Frederick James Bonner their grandson, age 2, living with them.

Thomas died age 58, from Typhus Fever, 13th May 1855, he was buried at Frensham on 18th May 1855.

Harriet was left to care for young Frederick James  the 1861 census shows them as living at Beales Wood, Harriet aged 62,  is working as a School Mistress. Arthur, her youngest son, age 21, an Agricultural Labourer like his father and grandson James Bonner, (the Frederick missed off), age 12 and a scholar.

The 1881 census shows Harriet age 80 as a patient at Brookwood Lunatic Asylum, she died there on 13th December 1884 aged 84 of congestion of the lungs and was buried at Frensham on 19th December 1884.

MARY ALDRED 1819 - 1850

Mary was the first child of Thomas Aldred and Harriet Remnant, she was born in Frensham and baptised on 6th February 1819, she left home and became a servant, and in 1847 she married James Bonner a Gardener, at Frensham church on 3rd June 1847. They stayed in Frensham and the following year she gave birth to a son Frederick James born on 10th June 1848. Frederick James was baptised at Frensham on 30th July 1848. Two years later Mary had another son William Charles, she died 1 week later from puerperal mania, on her 3rd wedding anniversary 3rd June 1850 at Farnham, age 30 years. Her son William Charles was baptised on the 7th June 1850 at Frensham I imagine in the presence of his dead mother as she was buried the same day at Frensham. Frederick James went to live with his grand parents, Thomas and Harriet Aldred. William Charles went to live with Mary's brother James Aldred and his wife Ann.
