ANDREW BAKER 1908 - 1990

Andrew was the ninth child of Charles Baker and Margaret Ann Jones he was born 24th May 1908 at Senghenydd. Andrew was only 4 years old when his father and elder brother Charles were both killed in the Senghenydd Colliery explosion. In 1926 his brother Tom went to Croydon to find work, his mother and sister Alice joined him 2 years later. Andrew was in the Army serving in Singapore. He returned to Croydon to live with them for a while after he was de-mobbed on medical grounds.

Andrew married Margaret Appleton and they had 2 children Alec and Anne.

Andrew died 4th February 1990 at Croydon.
