BEST FAMILY TREE

The Best family came from Whitestone. The parish registers start in the late 1500's, the first entry is 1595 concerning the Best's. As with a lot of older registers the baptisms only record the father's names. Also there are some missing years. I think that Henry, Thomas, Barbara and John could be siblings.

HENRY BEST 15.. -

Henry married 13th October 1595 his bride is recorded as Richord Goare, they had a least 7 children baptised at Whitestone, Alice baptised 12th April 1596, John baptised 22nd June 1597, James baptised 10th August 1600, Henry baptised 12th December 1602, Thomas baptised 4th August 1605, there may have been others between 1606 & 1610, William baptised 26th May 1613 and Agnes baptised 17th April 1615. Henry was a prominent character in Whitestone, he was a Churchwarden from 1616 to 1623, and again for a year in 1636. Richaurde died in 1637 and was buried 23rd August 1637,

THOMAS BEST  15.. -

Thomas married Joane Lake at Whitestone 12th December 1597. I think Thomas and Joane may have moved to Newton St Cyres with is north of Whitestone, the IGI lists 2 baptisms for children of Thomas Best. Henry baptised 21st March 1601 and William baptised 7th June 1604.

BARBARA BEST 15.. -

Barbara could be a sister to Henry and Thomas at the present I have no way of knowing. She married Thomas Clogg at Whitestone on 5th November 1614 or 1615.

JOHN BEST 15.. - 1624

John was possibly a brother of Henry, Thomas and Barbara Best.  John married Jane Bartlett at Whitestone on 27th September 1600. They had a son John baptised 14th September 1604. The parish registers are not complete and the years 1606 -1610 are missing, the next child is Henry baptised 3rd May 1612. 

JOHN BEST 1604 - 

John was a son of John Best & Jane Bartlett, he was born at Whitestone and baptised 14th September 1604. I do not know how many siblings he had, apart from a brother Henry. John married about 1625, his daughter  Joan was baptised 25th December 1625, Henry was baptised 20th September 1629, Lawrence baptised 7th July 1639 and Barbara baptised 4th July 1641 who died aged 9, she was buried 22nd March 1650.

JOAN BEST 1625 -

Joan was a daughter of John Best, she was baptised 25th December 1625 at Whitestone. Unfortunately her mothers name is not included in the parish register entry. She married Richard Splatt 28th January 1648.
