DANIEL HOLMAN JERVIS

DANIEL HOLMAN JERVIS 1826 -

Daniel Holman was the seventh child of William Jervis and Mary, he was born at Dunsford in 1827. He married Charlotte Lockman from Harburton. Daniel and Mary settled in Doddiscombesleigh where his parents held Pilt Farm. Daniel was also a Farmer. Their first child  William was born about 1865 and Eleanor was born about 1867. Henry E.H. was born about 1874 at Bovey Tracey.

By 1871 the family had moved to Keepers Lodge at Bridford, where I found them on the 1871 census. Daniel Jervis aged 44 a retired Farmer born at Dunsford, Charlotte his wife aged 29 born at Harburton, William their son aged 6 born at Doddiscombesleigh and Eleanor their daughter aged 5 born at Doddiscombesleigh, also Jeremiah Jervis a Boarder aged 38 and unmarried.  (Jeremiah was Daniels younger brother).

By 1881 the family had moved again to Shute, Bovey Tracey. Daniel Jervis, aged 53, Farmer of 92 acres employing 2 labourers, born at Dunsford. Charlotte Jervis his wife aged 45, born at Harbeton. William Jervis their son aged 16, farm labourer, born at Doddiscombsleigh. Henry E.H. Jervis, son aged 7 born at Bovey Tracey, John F Wilcocks, indoor farm servant, aged 17, born at Hennock. Mary Fry, domestic servant, aged 15, born at Barnstaple.
