ELIZA LEWINGTON 1816 - 1883

Eliza was the first child of William Lewington and Sarah Durbage, she was born at The Dell, Kingsclere, and baptised at St Mary's church, Kingsclere on 28th April 1816. When Eliza was 2 years old her sister Maria was born. Maria was baptised at West Woodhay. Eliza had four more siblings who were baptised at Kingsclere.

Eliza married John Sims on 3rd October 1836 in St Mary's Church, Kingsclere, the Banns were read on the 14th, 21st & 28th of August. Her parents gave their consent to the marriage. The witnesses were her sister Maria Lewington and John Rolfe. Eliza and John had a son John born about 1837 in Salisbury, Wiltshire. John Sims sadly died, leaving Eliza alone with her son.

Eliza moved back to Kingsclere where she met up again with John Rolfe who was a witness at her marriage to John Sims. They married on 23rd June 1841 at St Mary's church, Kingsclere, by Banns read on 14th, 21st & 28th March 1841. The witnesses were John Harris and her sister Maria Lewington.
