GEORGE ALDRED

GEORGE ALDRED 1829 -

George was the 5th child of Thomas Aldred and Harriet Remnant, he was baptised on 5th April 1829 at Frensham. George became a Farm Labourer and in 1851 was living with his brother James and his wife Ann at Summerhatch Green, Dockenfield, where he met and married his first wife Jane Crawter or Carter. They married at Frensham on 8th November 1851, Jane was age 20 and a Servant. They had a child Mary Elizabeth, baptised 16th January 1853. Jane died.

George age 26 a widower with a young child, married 19 old year Betsy Harding, daughter of John Harding, at Frensham on 26th December 1857, the witnesses were James Harding and Harriet Harding. 

The 1861 census shows George age 32, Betsey age 22 with daughter Mary from his first marriage age 9, living at Frensham. 

In 1871 They are living at Millbridge, George aged 42, Betsy aged 32, Mary aged 18, a domestic servant, and two Boarders, Charles Smith age 31, Shepard, from Basingstoke and William Lusukin age 24, a Groom from Wiltshire. 

By the 1881 census Mary Elizabeth has left home and George and Betsy are still living at Millbridge, Frensham. 

The 1891 Census shows they have moved to 1 Middle Hill, in the Saint Mary's Parish of Farnham, George age 62 is still an Agricultural Labourer and Betsy is aged 51. 

The 1901 census shows George now aged 72 working as a Road Making Labourer, his wife Betsy age 61, and Bessy Lena Harding, Niece, age 11, still living at Middle Hill.

 

MARY ELIZABETH ALDRED 1853 -

Mary Elizabeth was the only daughter of George Aldred and Jane Crawter, she was baptised 16th January 1853. She married age 26 to Charles Matthew Carter at Frensham on 2nd September 1879, her father and step mother were witnesses.
