HEBER SLATTER

HEBER SLATTER 1870

Heber was the 6th child of Samuel Slatter and Amy Huggins. He was born at Abingdon, Berkshire. His father was Publican at the Holly Bush Publish House, Ock Street, Abingdon. Heber's older brother William went to Reading where he met and married his wife Lucy Froud. Heber followed him to Reading and married Lucy's sister Minnie Froud. The 1891 census shows Heber and Minnie living with his brother William at 25 Orts Road, Reading. Heber aged 22 was working as a Labourer.

The 1901 census shows that his wife Minnie and their two children Winifred aged 5 and Cyril aged 2, were still living with William Slatter and family. Heber was working in Dorset as an Assistant Warder in the Prison Service. The census sheet didn't say which prison it was, but just listed the other Prison Officers.
