HENRY SAMUEL CHEDZOY
HENRY SAMUEL CHEDZOY 1884 - 1962 (information & memories from Olaf Chedzoy)
Henry Samuel Chedzoy was the 3rd child of George Charles Chedzoy and Elizabeth Sophia Pipe, he was born 1884, I didn't find his baptism at Stoke St Gregory. He married Dorothy Elizabeth and they had 2 children born in the early 1920's John and Evelyn. John & Evelyn didn't go to the village school. Henry Samuel was always known as Harry and he kept the village shop in the square of Stoke St Gregory, this made him one of the most important residents of the village, the shop was a traditional village Grocery shop, although he did not have the Post Office. He did have a Bakery, producing Bread during the wartime. Adjacent to the Grocery shop (and linked into it) his wife Dorothy ran the Drapers Shop, it was always said that Dorothy 'had money' and the shop was hers.
