AMY HUGGINS 1826 -

Amy was the 3rd child of William Huggins and Ann Butler, she was baptised at Milton on 11th June 1826. Amy left home and went into service with Robert Bradfield and his wife Margaret at Lud Bridge in the village of East Hendred, I found her on the 1841 census age 15. It would appear that Amy had a son Henry who was baptised 12th March 1847 at East Hendred no Father is mentioned in the baptism register. Amy left her son with her mother at Milton and went to work at Abingdon where I found her on the 1851 census for Abingdon St Helen, age 24 working as a general servant to Fanny Pukman a widow living in Ock Street. This may have been where she met her future husband Samuel Slatter who was also living in Ock Street at the time. Amy moved to Appleford and so did Samuel, they married there at Appleford Church on 26th April 1854.

Amy and Samuel moved back to Ock Street in the parish of St Helen in Abingdon, where Samuel became a Brewer at the Holly Bush. They raised 7 children. (see Samuel Slatter) Amy died between 1881 & 1891.
