ISAAC HUGGINS
ISAAC HUGGINS 1822 - 1908
Isaac was the first child of William Huggins and Ann Butler, he was baptised at Milton on 14th August 1822. He married Eliza Smith daughter of William Smith at Sutton Courtney on 21st October 1849. They settled in Milton and had 5 children. Emily baptised 9th February 1851. Mary Ann baptised 26th September 1852, Charles born 1854, Elizabeth born 1855 and Edward baptised 14th March 1858, but he sadly died age 5 and was buried at Milton 31st May 1863. Three years later Isaac's wife Eliza died age 39, she was buried at Milton on 17th May 1866.
Isaac then married Clara Woodley a widow from Steventon, they married at Milton on 30th November 1867, and they had another 4 children, Ada born 1871 who died age 14 days, buried 15th August 1871, John born 1872, Adah baptised 9th August 1874 and Alice baptised 22nd January 1876. The 1881 census shows Isaac age 57, an Agricultural Labourer, his wife Clara age 42, born at Steventon, and daughter Alice age 5, a Scholar born at Milton. Mary Ann, age 28, Isaac's 2nd child was working as a Cook to Widow, Susan Arundell at Blacknest House, a Farmer of 271 acres employing 5 men and 1 boy.
Isaac must have fallen on hard times in his old age, as he died at the Union in Abingdon, but he was buried at Milton on 25th April 1908. Clara out lived Isaac, she died aged 81 at the union infirmary and was buried at Milton on 21st December 1913.
