LEADER FAMILY TREE

SIMON LARDER/LADER  ? - 1729

Simon married Mary Hardie at Poughill 31st August 1681. They had 4 children Simon baptised 7th April 1682, Mary baptised 2nd May 1684, Joane baptised 4th July 1686 and John baptised 1st July 1688.

I think that Simon's wife Mary must have died although I have found no burial for her. Simon married again on 14th January 1696 to Jane Bond (daughter of Roger & Jane Bond born in 1660). They had 3 children William baptised 2nd December 1697, he died aged 58 and was buried 10th September 1755. Jane baptised 15th August 1700 and Roger baptised 22nd April 1703. Simon died in February 1729 and was buried on the 17th February 1729, his son John  died 4 months later and was buried 1st June 1729, the following year his widow Jane was buried on 18th January 1730.

SIMON LADER 1682 - 1763  (Information from the IGI & Poughill Parish registers)                  

Simon Leader married Mary Hookway at Poughill 5th June 1711, they lived at Poughill, Devon and raised their family. Simon baptised 12th May 1712, who sadly died aged 4 months, he was buried 3rd August 1712. William baptised 28th October 1713. From here on the name becomes Leader. Mary baptised 6th December 1716. Agnes baptised 27th March 1719, Simon baptised 1st April 1722, Susannah baptised 25th January 1729, who went on to marry Robert Putt on 16th January 1757, Elizabeth baptised 10th December 1732, who went on to marry Robert Taylor on 17th February 1765. Simon died in 1763 and was buried 20th February 1763.

SIMON LEADER 1722 - 1776

Simon was born at Poughill, the second child of Simon Leader and Mary Hookway, he was baptised 1st April 1722. He married Elizabeth .....?, they raised their family at Ide. Mary was baptised 19th November 1749. Elizabeth was baptised 7th May 1752. John baptised 16th February 1755. Simons' wife Elizabeth and son John I think died during 1755, the registers are very dark and illegible for that year. Simon married widow Ann Rendle on 29th January 1757, I have found no further children. Simon was buried 17th September 1776. Ann married widower Bartholomew Luckis on 25th December 1782, she died 4 years later.

MARY LEADER 1749 -

Mary born at Ide was baptised 19th November 1749, she married John Scanes at Ide church on 25th March 1772, witnessed by Ann Leader her stepmother. (see Scanes Family Tree).

ELIZABETH LEADER 1752 - 1840

Elizabeth was born at Ide and baptised at Ide church 7th May 1752. Elizabeth had a daughter Sarah Leader baptised at Ide 11th June 1776, who sadly died aged 3, she was buried 24th June 1779. Three years later Elizabeth married John Herd at Ide Church on 1st September 1782, one of the witnesses was her brother in law John Scanes.  I found two children Joseph baptised 29th December 1782 and Mary baptised 25th December 1784. John Herd died a pauper and was buried 18th November 1788. Elizabeth died age 87, and was buried 29th November 1840.

Joseph Herd: - I have found no information about Joseph Herd.

Mary Herd:- I found Mary Herd on the 1851 census, she was a House Servant to Mary Densham a widow aged 82, Mary was unmarried and aged 60, although this is 6 years younger than her actual age, I believe that this is our Mary, as I found no other Mary Herds born in Ide.
