LEONARD STALLARD

My thank to Iris Barton for the following information and my father for stories about Leonard.

LEONARD STALLARD 1905 - 1961

Leonard was the 7th child of Charles William Stallard and Mary Matilda Bonner, he was born in 1905 at 1 Fairview Villas, Alexandra Road, Ash. Leonard married Hetti Vaile Cook in 1929, and they had 6 children as listed below. Leonard left school at 11 years old, there were no School inspectors to insist he carried on till he was 14 years old.

He started work for the Bus Company in Aldershot, took his driving test when he was 18, and he trained other drivers on the Skid Pan. Later in life he suffered from Angina and the Bus Company would send someone round to pick him up for work, as he was too ill to travel to work on the Bus. He also needed help up into his Bus Cab, and off he would go and drive his Bus all day, many a day his Conductor would have to phone the Bus Company for a relief driver because Len was too ill to carry on. But he would be back the next day driving. When Len died in 1961 he had no pension, but the Bus Company collected £30 for his widow Hetti.

Roy Leonard Charles Stallard

Roy was the first child of Leonard and Hetti Stallard, he was born 1930. He made a career in the Police, and he married Valerie Watson in 1956. They had 2 children Geoffrey Roy born 1957 who married Sarah Smith, and Janette Valerie born 1959 who married David Peskett.

Anthony George Stallard

Anthony was born 1932, he married Anne Pollard in 1959 and they had 3 children, Angela Carol who married Andrew Griffiths. Dean Nigel, and Tina Elaine.

Reginald Dennis Stallard

Reginald was born 1933, he married Sylvia Hammond in 1957, and they adoped a child Belinda who was born 1965.

Gwendoline Anne Stallard

Gwendoline was born 1937, she married Paul McLaughlin in 1957, but got divorced, she then married Terence Nicholis and she had 3 children, Kevin, Dierdre and Julie.

Pamela Yvonne Stallard

Pamela was born 1940, she married Anthony Presser in 1966 and they had 2 children. Samantha Amy and Michelle Dawn.

Brian Robert Stallard

Brian was the youngest he was born 1948, he married Theresa Halt in 1969 and they had 3 children. Andrew Brian, Nicholas Paul and Simon James.
