PESTER FAMILY TREE
My thanks to Barbara Ryan who gave me Sarah Pester's parents, which enabled my research to progress. Barbara sadly died on 8th December 2003, her family have kindly allowed me to keep her name and information on this web site. My thanks to them.
RICHARD PESTER
Richard married Sarah Warren on 26th December 1770 at Rewe-by-Exeter. They had about 10 children, Sarah was baptised 4th November 1771 at Rewe-by-Exeter, and married William Edds. Anne, who married John Andrews. Grace was baptised 4th February 1780, and married Aaron Flood. Richard baptised 21st July 1782, he married Elizabeth Cording. George baptised 26th November 1786, Nanny baptised 16th August 1789 and Jenny baptised 11th November 1792. Jane who married James Cording, a Carpenter.
GEORGE PESTER 1786 - 1850
George Pester married Ann Splatt on 11th June 1809 at Whitestone, the witnesses were Simon Splatt and Martha Pester. They remained in Whitestone and their first child Sarah was baptised on 31st December 1809, Mary was baptised 10th November 1811 at Rewe-by-Exeter, George was baptised on 23rd January 1814. he sadly died aged 4 years. Simon was baptised 3rd December 1815 he too sadly died aged 3 years. Both little George and Simon were buried on 3rd May 1819. Richard was baptised 1st February 1818. Tragedy struck when both George aged 5 and Simon aged 3 died, they were both buried 3rd May 1819. Harriett was baptised on 17th December 1820, George was baptised on 30th March 1823, he married Fanny. Martha Ann was baptised 21st August 1825, but she sadly died aged 8 months and was buried 2nd April 1826, the entry listed her name as Mary Ann. Simon was baptised on 25th February 1827, John was baptised on 2nd May 1829, and Ann was baptised 27th February 1830.
George died on 20th November 1850. His death certificate gives his age as 64, a carpenter, the informant was his daughter Mary. The 1851 census shows his family living at Olivers Tenements, Whitestone. Ann Pester, widow age 64, daughter Mary age 39, unmarried, a Dressmaker, daughter Harriet age 30, unmarried, a Servant, son George age 28, unmarried, a Smith, son Simon age 24, unmarried, a Carpenter, son John age 21, unmarried, a Cordwinder (shoemaker), and grandson Daniel Crews (Cruse) age 5, a scholar, born at Kenton.
1861 census - Mary and Harriet were living together at Halsford Wood Village, Whitestone, both were unmarried, and working as School Mistresses.
SARAH PESTER 1809 - 1868
Sarah was born in 1809 at Whitestone and was baptised on 31st December 1809. She was the eldest of 10 children born to George Pester and Ann Splatt. Sarah married John C Cruse on 23rd May 1831 at St Mary Steps, Exeter. They moved to Kenton and had at least 4 children, these are the one's I have found. Henry Pester baptised 21st July 1833, John Pester baptised 28th February 1836, Mary Jane was born about 1839, George possibly was born next, and Daniel Richard was born 15th August 1845.
Sarah died aged 59 on 21st February 1868, she is buried at Kenton with her husband and daughter Mary Jane.
