SIMON PESTER 1827 -
Simon was the eighth child of George Pester and Ann Splatt, he was baptised at Whitestone 25th February 1827. Simon was a Carpenter and Builder, he married Elizabeth Seward from Dunsford. They had 2 children: A son named George was born 13th February 1853, but he sadly died 4 days later. A daughter Mary Ann was born about 1858, but she also died aged about 7 from Scarletina, on 30th October 1864. She is buried at Whitestone.
I found them on the 1861 census for Whitestone. Simon Pester, head, age 34, Carpenter & Builder, born at Whitestone, Elizabeth, wife, age 36, born at Dunsford. Mary Ann, daughter, age 3, Scholar, born at Whitestone, Thirza Seward, wife's sister, age 13, General Servant, born at Dunsford, Samuel Seward, wife's brother, age 20, Carpenter Apprentice, born at Dunsford, John Hedge, Boarder, age 81, widower, Retired Gentleman's Servant, born at Tedburn St Mary.
The 1881 census shows that the family has moved to 1a Victoria Place, Willesden, Middlesex, very close to Simons brother Richard who lives at no. 5 Victoria Place. Simon is now aged 54 and still working as a Carpenter. wife Elizabeth aged 56, their daughter Mary Ann is no longer living at home, but sister-in-law Thurza Seward is now a step daughter, aged 34 and still a general domestic servant, she may have had a child Mary J. Seward, aged 13, who is god daughter to Simon, she was born at Hempstead.
