STEPHEN DIGGINS 1848 -

Stephen was the second child of Thomas Diggins and Mary Ann Jervis, he was born at Doddiscombesleigh about 1848. Stephen married Elizabeth from Dunsford. They lived at Doddiscombesleigh where their first 3 Children were born. Arthur born about 1872, Eva Kate born about 1874, Maud born about 1876. They moved to Dunsford where Ernest born about 1880 and Lucy born about 1893.

The 1881 census show them living at Midwinter Cottage, Dunsford. Stephen Diggins, age 33, Carpenter, born at Doddiscombesleigh, Elizabeth his wife, age 35, born at Dunsford, Arthur his son, age 9, Scholar, born at Doddiscombesleigh, Eva Kate his daughter, age 7, Scholar, born at Doddiscombesleigh, Maud his daughter, age 5 Scholar, born at Doddiscombesleigh and Ernest his son age 1 born at Dunsford.

The 1891 census shows the family still at Midwinter Cottage, Dunsford. Stephen Diggins, age 43, Carpenter, born at Doddiscombesleigh, his wife Elizabeth, age 45, born at Dunsford, his son Ernest, age 11, Scholar, born at Dunsford, his daughter Lucy, age 8, Scholar, born at Dunsford.
