THOMAS DISCOMBE

THOMAS DISCOMBE 1799 -

Thomas was the 2nd child of John Discombe and Elizabeth Kissiah, he was baptised 25th December 1799. Thomas married Jane Pike on 31st August 1822 at Dawlish. John was baptised 24th April 1825 at Dawlish. Henry was baptised 18th February 1827, he married Bethiah. Eliza Jane was baptised 18th July 1830 at Starcross. John was baptised 13th October 1833. Sarah Jane was baptised 17th April 1836. Susanna was born about 1841.(she married Ezra Liskey). Caroline was born about 1845.

I found them on the 1851 living at Cockwood, Dawlish. Thomas Discombe, head, age 51, Labourer, born at Kenton, Jane, wife, aged 50, born at Dawlish, Eliza, daughter, age 21, Lace Worker, born at Dawlish, Sarah, daughter, age 15, Lace Worker, Dawlish, Susanna, daughter, daughter, age 10, born at Dawlish, Caroline, daughter, age 6, born at Dawlish.

By 1861 Thomas and Jane were living at Public House, long Street, Starcross, Thomas aged 64 and Jane aged 62, with son-in-law Ezra Liskey aged 27, daughter Susanna Pike Liskey, aged 20. daughter Caroline Discombe unmarried aged 16. Despite the address, Thomas and family were agricultural labourers NOT publicans.
