WHITESTONE PAGE

Whitestone or Whitstone as it is pronounced is a scattered village about 3 1/2 miles W.N.W. of Exeter.

Whitestone is described in more detail on the Genuki site http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/Whitestone where there is an extract from White's Devonshire Directory 1850. The description of a scattered village is very apt, having spent some time driving through single track lanes, up and down dale trying locate the church. We did eventually find it, then we had to drive back down and up again, hoping that nothing was coming the other way. It is a wonderful place, in the heart of Devon wooded county side.
