WILLIAM CHEDZOY
WILLIAM CHEDZOY 1781 - 1843
William Chedzoy was the 7th child of Levi Chedzoy and Ann Pearce. He was baptised when he was 2 years old on the same day as his younger sister Joan, on 15th January 1783. William married Rachel Sperring on 2nd February 1803, at Stoke St Gregory. They had 9 children. Amelia age 2 and Mary Ann age 3 weeks were baptised together at Stoke St Gregory on 22nd October 1809. Sarah was born 1811. Levi was born 1813. Eliza was born 1815. William was born 1818. George was baptised 28th April 1821, Henry was baptised on 29th February 1824 and Caroline was baptised on 13th August 1826, also at Stoke St Gregory church. One week later William and Rachel decided to have their 4 middle children baptised at Stoke St Gregory church on 20th August 1826, Sarah was 15 years, Levi was 13 years, Eliza was 11 years and William was 8 years old.
William died aged 65 according to the parish records, he was buried at Stoke St Gregory 7th December 1843. This date would mean that William was born in 1778, but there doesn't seem to be another William who fits the dates. Rachel died aged 68 and was buried 11th November 1844.
ELIZA CHEDZOY - Eliza was the 5th child of William Chedzoy and Rachel Sperring, she was born about 1815, and was baptised age 11 years, on 20th August 1826. Eliza had I believe 2 children before she married,. John Crop Chedzoy baptised 14th January 1836 and James Chedzoy baptised 1st September 1839.
Eliza married Blacksmith George Whaits on 29th September 1841, both signed with their mark, witnessed by her father or brother William Chedgzoy and James Chedgzoy.
