WILLIAM DEY

WILLIAM DEY 1806 - 1880

William was the first child of William Dey and Ann Brice, he was baptised 10th August 1806 at Ide. William was a shoemaker. He married a girl named Dorothy who came from Dolton. They had 2 children both born at Ide. William born about  1838 and Dorothy Ann born about 1840, she died aged 16 during the June quarter 1856. William died on 25th September 1880 aged 74 and was buried at Ide.

WILLIAM DEY 1838 - 1875

William was the first child of William Dey and Dorothy. He was born at Ide in 1838. William trained as an Architect in Exeter, aged 24 he married Jane Mathews daughter of a Grocer, William Mathew and Judith Templeman. William and Jane married at Holy Trinity Exeter on 20th November 1862.

Sadly Jane died during the first 3 months of 1864, William it seems went to London, where the 1871 census records him living at 36 Merchant Street, Tower Hamlets, aged 32 a widower, working as an Architectural Draughtsman.

William then returned to Exeter where he died aged 36 during the first 3 months of 1875.
