STEPHEN BRIGHT  1792 -1835

Stephen, could be the son of William & Elizabeth Bright, there is a baptism in the Broomfield parish registers in 1795, our Stephen would have been about 3 years old.

Stephen died aged 43, and was buried at Spaxton 18th June 1835.

ELIZABETH BRIGHT 1833 -

Elizabeth Bright was born in Spaxton about 1841, she was the daughter of Stephen Bright a Shoemaker. She married Charles Baker at Spaxton church on 31st December 1860. Elizabeth was educated as she signed her own name on the marriage certificate. The Parish records for Spaxton show that Elizabeth had a daughter Annie Maria baptised on 22nd January 1860. The census return for 1861 shows that Charles gave Annie Maria his name, also on that census entry is another child Jane Bright age 8 also shown as a daughter.

WILLIAM JAMES BRIGHT 1870 - ancester of Elaine Davies

William is probably the son of Jane Bright. (I haven't had chance to check through the parish register myself) He was born at Nether Stowey and was brought up by his grandparents Charles Baker and Elizabeth Bright. The Bakers moved to Cowbridge in Wales, William went with them, but was not living with them at the time of the 1881 census. Aged 14, he went to Sea. Returning by the 1891 census to live with the Bakers in Aberdare, and working down the Coal Mines.

William married in 1907, had a total of 18 children, only 12 surviving to adulthood. During the 1930's the family moved to Wembley, Middlesex. William died aged 72 in 1943.
