THE REMNANT PAGE

My thanks to Gill Gordon for help and information she gave me on the Remnant family.

The Remnant family lived in the Frensham area of Surrey, they were agricultural labourers and moved around the local parishes as their jobs dictated. Most agricultural labourers at the time would live in 'tied' cottages and as they changed jobs, so would move home to live on the farm or estates employing them. The parishes they lived in through the generations are, Frensham, Rowledge, Spreakley and Thursley.

At the time John Remnant was born c1739 in Frensham Surrey. George II was on the throne and Robert Walpole was the first Prime Minister. (written by Jill Gordon)
